Where I Find Myself
by Paulette Weaver
copyright 12-14-2001

Age Rating: 10 to 127

A sultry, damp and buzzing
evening settling in the South.
Giving credence, naysayers' folly,
decorum bashing loud-mouthed.

What enigma holds me here
wiping sweat from my brow?
Sacred peace, unruffled soul,
passage to the now.

Not to question reasons be for
loving where we are.
Sunsets glow, a magic show,
Rigel, Betelgeuse* dance from afar.

Praying Mantis genuflect,
Lepidoptera** fly so near.
Wanderlust, we search the glades,
ignoring talk besmear.

Bougainvillea keep last castle,
comfortable inside my skin.
Dreams alit in different moments,
mine found me, a perfect win.

* Two bright stars from the constellation Orion
** Butterfly indigenous to Florida

Beautiful alliteration !

12-15-2001 Paulette Weaver

Robert, here goes...Sometimes, people wonder why some of us enjoy living in the south, with all of it's dampness, storms, gators, bugs, what have you! and they like to give it the 'bad-mouth', and have a good time doing so. So, I question (enigma) myself, what keeps me here? I see the beautiful things that nature has to offer, (insect world) and the peace and solitude I find here, I see the beauty in the stars, (Orion) the foliage, i.e., bougainvillea, continue to produce it's radiance, (keep last castle) all of this, to me, makes this a wonderful place to be. I have found my 'place'. This is merely a fictional rendition.
Paulette
