Winter Night

A winter night-
Christmas lights swing
Back and forth in the gale.
Raindrops splatter and
Run down the window.
The chimney drags in
And echoes the gusts of wind
As they race over the soggy ground.
Solstice spirits are on the move.
Lashing against our consciousness.
Conducting the muse of finality.
Drawing minds inward on
An excursion of contemplation and memory.
The somber point in the yearly cycle-
An ending, rich in quiet repose and reflection.

Beautiful descriptive poem. Can't recall the last time it actually rain stormed during the Christmas season, in this area. Your poem brought back memories of when I lived on the Pacific Coast - it sure could rain down there in December! (right now here, I'm under snow, snow and yet....more snow)
