Who Knows What Makes a Writer?
by Betty Eskdale (Age: 63)
copyright 12-16-2001

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Read ...... or write?
Lead.......or follow?
Influence or affluence?
What will they swallow?

Can you sell your art?
Will you find a buyer?
Will you have success
Or be known as a tryer?

What lets one succeed
And makes another fail?
One just tell a story
And another "spin a tale"?

Who gets to choose?
Maybe we all do,
Lets encourage one another
And see our vision through!

Thank you Betty. If it were not for you and so many more like you my computer would be just another typewriter. No one would know that I even tried. Excellent reading

The balance of the words a writer uses and the words that are meant can cause some interesting results. Thanks for confirming there is no true definition of a writer.

True Betty, who knows? I bet most of us have read a book and thought, "I can do better than that"
I have! lol, I guess that there are so many of us out there that there is so many to choose from, one day some of us will be at the right place at the right time.
Keep writing and wait for that time!

A good write by the way,

John

Back to the poetic realm again, oh versatile one!!This was really quite good..not that I'd know, not being a judge, critic or suchlike (although as you know...everyone's a critic..even if it's just about themselves) Love, Little Sis

Thank you all! It is wonderful to have such nice comments from all of you. Your work inspires me.
BTW Robert, I entered a lyric contest too, I was broken hearted when I learned Kim Carnes won; I didn't realize we were competing against professionals. I didn't get any comments from any judges, not too helpful at all.

I enjoyed this poem Betty. You do a good job with the rhyming.

I agree Betty, nicely spoken in verse....perhaps this will spur people on to read and comment on other stories and poems, along with sharing their own.

Very nicely said and very nicely done, too, Betty. Hopefully, this poem will encourage others to read and comment on more works. Good job. Jackie
