A Man Around the House by Jackie Moranty

I’m thinking of all the things
a man around the house is good for.
He could fix that draft that comes
right through my back door.

A man around the house
would be pretty good, I think.
He could fix the clogged pipes
under my kitchen sink.

There’s so many things to do
for a man around the house.
Like being a second rider
when I have a colt to joust.

A man around the house
could help me stretch that wire,
and split and chop wood
so we could have a fire.

When there’s a herd to gather,
I don’t usually grouse
but I could sure do with the help
of a man around the house.

Yeah there’s a bunch of things
a man around the house is good for.
Company on the long, lonely rides,
someone to talk to during chores.

A man around the house,
someone to talk to when I feel alone.
Someone to call when I’m working late,
just so they know I’m coming home.

Someone to cheer me on
when I decide to ride.
A man around the house,
someone on my side.

A man around the house,
someone to buddy with.
Someone around the place
to exchange Christmas gifts.

Someone to keep me warm
on long, cold winter nights.
A man around the house
would be really nice.

The thought of my chores
Leaves me with a lot of doubts,
but there’s lots of reasons
to have a man around the house.
