True Love Never Dies With The Tears
by John Mcleod
copyright 12-27-2001

Age Rating: 13 to 127

I saw a sign that said the shop was closed
empty windows mirror what my heart feels
spider webs hang like silken sheets
a teardrop falls and scatters the dust on the street,

Pressing my face onto the glass just to see
ghost-like images of distant memories
two clowns dancing in the middle of the night
two shadows brought back to life by the moonlight,

With heavy heart I turned to walk away
you stopped me and said you came to see
the final dance of lovers long ago
you held my hand and then you let it go,

I looked around but there was no one in sight
my mind was playing games on this lonely night
then I heard you whisper in my ear
true love never dies with the tears.

John Mcleod

I can feel the bittersweet memories as I breathe deeply..not wanting the first, the worst teardrop to fall.

The only thing I can think of to say, is I love this, and it is sad and heartwarming .

John,
Just beautiful! Try to remember the good times, it makes the bad ones easier to take...no one is exempt, it's how we handle it that counts!!!
blessings,
Paulette

Great job, John. Seems like we're all a little heartbroke. Christmas really does me in. Hopefully, after the holidays are over, we'll all be back to normal again. Great write. Jackie

My friend, this is a very awesome, deep poem that strikes me on many levels. Very well written!
