There is a Devil hiding inside of me
he tempts me with his evil ways
he creates illusions of a grander life
new games for me to play,
His evil ways he tempts me with
new games for me to play
illusions of a grander life he creates
there is a Devil hiding inside of me.

Author Note; We all have this chap hiding inside us, whether we listen to him decides our future. Those who succumbe to his calling are those who do bad things in life. Those who ignore the whispers live long and prosper. Perhaps the prospering does not involve wealth in the money sense but to say the least, I am not rich as in I have tons of cash but I am rich in other ways. Do you ignore the whispers too? Or do you deny that you hear them?

Well written and strong 8-liner poem, John. As for the darkness, it's always in life...at least in mine. I can choose to follow it's path to destruction or I can choose the light. I choose the light.
To be truthful....there has been times when I've almost sucummbed to the darkness. And times that I did....from those times, learnings arise. I take those learnings and move forward in life. Knowing that I battled darkness and won.
Well, John, for the most part, I can ignore that devil. He's a mean old cuss. There's only every now and then that the horns grow in my head and knock my halo off. I have to agree that when I'm leaning to the good side, my life tends to go much better than when I'm leaning to the bad side. It's not so much the money that makes me satisfied, it's more the fact that I can look myself in the eye and know that I've done my best that makes me satisfied. Jackie
