They cling to each other even though there
is nothing left.

The loneliness of aloneness forces two people
to hang on to what used to be.

Remembering times when laughter made it to
their moments and smiles could never be

wiped away even though sadness would
come long before they were ready
to forget the
joy.

A sad thoughtful article Paulette, over the years I have met many couples who are like this and I used to think to myself (Why are they together) and the end result was that they were afraid of being alone. Although I am married I do like my own company, for years I was alone and during that time I wrote my best music. I do not know if I would like to be alone again as I have been pampered too much by my wife, LOL.
