Keep'em Laughin'

  Keep'em Laughin'

The bellman opened the hotel entrance door
for the statuesque beauty. Then, gliding
by the snoozing security guard, giving
him her usual sexy, curtsy.

She vanished into the door marked 'Dancers Only'
slamming it with a loud noise. Out of his chair
the guard awakened abruptly, without very
much poise.

At her dressing table the transformation begins,
dabbing makeup all over her skin. As a high-
paid topless dancer, all she does is just
stand there and every so often she'd
spin.

The makeup she wore was quite thick, to be
seen from afar was the trick. Her lips
painted bright red, her beauty'd
embed, most beautiful, her
they would pick.

The time came for the feathered headdress.
Just lifting it caused her distress. She
had help from her 'dresser' who'd limit
the pressure and in the end she looked
like a countess.

The final touch was made ready to go, as
she struck a picturesque tableau.
Gliding herself onto the stage,
they clapped, she was the
rage. Once again, she
was the star of the
show.

Back in her dressing room once more,
remembering the audience's uproar.
Getting showered, ready to leave,
with herself very much pleased,
thinking what will I do for
an encore.

*Bravo!* Paulette, this was excellent: I loved the read, the scene, the gasping of the audience as this beauty entered the room. I can hear the applause of the crowd, the grunting approvals of the men, the clink of drink glasses being laid down on the table as they concentrate on the scene before them.

A great write as always!

John
