Three little lessons
Teaching a little child to wink
Is not as easy as you may think
Even after a number of tries
The child will still close both little eyes.
Learning to manoeuvre some gum for a bubble
Puts the tongue to a whole lot of trouble,
Push through the teeth while keeping it whole
Then puff through the lips but don't lose control
Or the gum will fall out in a slippery wad,
But keeping the ridge back will sure make you glad;
Blow, oh so slowly, and your eyes will glow
To see the pink roundness that grows as you blow.
Laces on shoes, I ask you ,why Mother?
Velcro or slips-ons don't cause such a bother;
But my shoes have laces, oh what shall I do?
If they don't get done up, then off falls a shoe.
Go over and under and then you go through
Such a small thing to cause a to-do;
Now looping with one hand, go round with the other
Then push through, you've got it, was that such a bother?
You just tied a bow, you are ever so clever
You're going to keep learning for ever and ever.

Thanks, all, learning is difficult; if we can make it fun, wonderful! Billy, how does that rabbit go down the hole? I heard that one after I learned to tie, had to do it the hard way.
Nice to see you again, David! It's been a while.
Peggy, I emailed you, am very interested in your life in Iowa and look forward to reading about it!
