One thing I regret is that I didn't learn the pleasure of living aboard a boat 30 years ago. It provides limitless inspiration, delicious filet mignon for the senses. You can:
Clap and laugh helplessly with pleasure while a dolphin tail-walks and cavorts next to you. Wonder at the symmetrical beauty of a school of mullet breaking the surface together, obeying some unseen conductor. Chortle at the comically whiskered manatee who nuzzles the surface near you begging for fresh water or lettuce. Smile as seagulls, God's perfect scavengers, pick off the breadcrumbs on the fly that you toss into the air. Marvel at a unique sunset, which fills the sky with a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and exquisite patterns from horizon to horizon. Gaze in awe at the imponderable infinity of God's universe as night settles in. Listen to gurgling, giggling waves lapping cheerfully around your hull while you type a story into the computer. Feel awesome, physical fear enter the pit of your stomach when a hurricane packing 120mph winds strikes, pray through the sleepless night for the safety of yourself and your neighbors, then breath the palpable peace and satisfaction of having survived intact. Create devious plans to trap the rat who has somehow slipped aboard and threatens to destroy and sink your floating home.
If some benevolent person were to offer me free dock space with power and all the amenities, if I were offered a free house or apartment, I'd smile, thank them sincerely, and then politely decline. You see, some things do not have a price. They can never be bought. I have gained and lost wealth. It is as fleeting as all else in this life. The thing I treasure is the beauty and excitement of being close to God and His wondrous creation.

Some benevolent person offered me a house. I accepted it. It is on a mountain top, in nature. I'm surrounded by land, trees, birds of many kinds, small animals and sometimes big as wolves or small as skunks. I saw one sleeping and living and eating with my cats. I often see deers.
I too have some difficulty with, not rats, but mice.
It is in this environment that I write and dream. And write some more.

Wealth does not matter where fulfillment is measured in elavation and dreams of priceless paradise - the mixture of water and salt.
You are the living example that God can stir good deeds through his people.
I also love the largest world's playground.
Thank you for your soulful words.
All the best

Awesome Bob! I loved reading this! Funny as it sounds, one of my favourite birds is gulls. I take the children I work with to the river or lakes often to feed them bread. They have such cool personalities! My next favourite bird (now this is absolutely crazy) is the raven - crazy, annoying and highly intelligent raven.
By the way, I remember as a teen going on the ferry to Vancouver Island and the coolest thing occurring - a pod of orcas played and swam for the longest time beside the ferry. It was very cool!
Sounds like you really enjoy life on the boat and I really enjoyed reading, visualizing all that you experience and see.
