From Earth To You All
by John Mcleod
copyright 02-02-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Dear humans, I do not think that you are being fair
you have messed up my land, there is rubbish everywhere
toxic waste and chemicals contaminate my soil
my oceans and seas are constantly spoiled with oil

You do not seem to care for the others living here
the fish that live in the water
and the birds that fly in the air
I am slowly dying it is quite plain to see
my ozone layer is crumbling it is not protecting me

For things to improve you will all have to learn
that being so untidy is causing me great harm
I have never hurt you I have always treated you well
so why do you continue to make my life hell?

If I messed up your home how would you react?
I bet that you would tell me to clean up my act
I will leave you now to think about what I have said
remember that we can all have a nice clean life......

As long as I am not dead!

John Mcleod

Well, as long as Mom Earth doesn't keep climbing onto my sons shoes... lol. Seriously, to this I can only say, AMEN; "The frog doesn't drink up the pond in which it lives" (Native American quote).

This is a wake up call for all of us who love Mother Nature..we each need to do our fair share in keeping her clean. A wonderful poem,
Nancy

Excellent poem...it flowed wonderfully.
I agree 100%...if people don't take care
of the earth, it will not be able to
take care of us.

Now that's really weird. I have absolutely no idea how this comment ended up here! I did make a comment on this piece. It read, "My 17 year can't understand how my generation has allowed the destruction of this earth....when we were the ones who started Earth Day."

Hi John, I remember you from TS. You and other names I recognize here were so helpful in encouraging me to write. I ended up being Community News Editor at our local newspaper because of TS encouragers, and guest columnist in 2 other papers. I couldn't find where you'd completed this project. Did I miss it? If not, and if you can still be somewhat kind to this Ms. Merry Sunshine (and a Scot as well), then I'm in too.

Funny how some think this is a problem, yet others are oblivious.

Very well done!

John, this subject is one that so many people talk about, but go on doing the same things anyway. One day, I'm afraid that we'll have to pay for treating the earth as we have. Jackie

Very well spoken John. Balance is important - in life, in nature, in spirit. You basically said it all!

02-02-2002 Bob Church

I can't add much, John. We would all to well to learn from your discourse.
