I may be getting older, but I refuse to grow up!!

I woke up early Tuesday
To myself I said, "Oh brother!!"
I went to bed in one decade
And woke up in another.
Do I HAVE to be a 'grown up'
Now that I've been here thirty years?
"That wasn't what I had in mind,"
I thought as I choked back tears.
I look at children playing
And I think back with a sigh
To all those childhood playtimes
When my energy was high.
When I could run and jump and swing
And play on monkey bars.
My exercise has now reduced
To JUMPING in my car
And RUNNING to the local store
To buy some food or beer;
And I can't forget the coffee
'Cause morning doesn't give me cheer.
But since I'm now an 'adult'
I've got much work to do
But I look back on yesterday
And boy, do I feel blue.
I woke up yesterday mornng
And I was feeling fine.
But that's 'cause yesterday morning
I was only 29!!!

Happy Birthday, Tiffany. Don't worry so much about getting older. I have a friend who says, "Pick an age and stick with it!" Heck, I still act like a kid most of the time, so age isn't an issue. Jackie
I loved getting older, I especially like double digit ages like 33, a year of great changes for me. I decided I could finally be me (eccentric and not just weird, the title works better as you get older) Think of all the great things you know how to do!
Nice to meet you, thanks for the lovely comment. BTW, I enjoyed your poem!
This is precisely why God allowed man to invent Guinness. I wouldn't spend undue time worrying about this were I you... hell, I've got socks older than you! Happy belated birthday, T...
Good write. Oh and by the way Happy Birthday.
I too miss those child hood days. Not yet fifty. I do think that life has rewards as we get older also. You never of heard me say that when I was thirty either. :)
