Here I Sit and Here I Ponder
by Anna Kindred

I wonder if life is true and real,
it's scary to think we are illusions.
For the world has placed into our paths,
so many pros and cons and simple illusions.

For if Chicken Little was afraid of the sky,
and Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Why do I care if Jack and Jill fell,
or see Dick and Jane catch a ball?

And what of poor little Hansel and Gretel,
and the plight of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves?
The Ugly Duckling made headlines too,
I just don't understand anything anymore.

I did everything as the aforementioned,
like Chicken Little who was afraid of the sky.
Well, I found out why the sky was falling,
a flock of geese droppings was the reason why.

And like Humpty Dumpty, I sat on a wall,
I pushed myself off, and I didn't crack my head.
I had bruises and cuts and everyone laughed,
so it was embarrassement I found instead.

Still I had to test the water,
so here comes Jack and Jill.
Well, I already learned about gravity,
but I had to try it still.

And what's so grand about Dick and Jane,
why the fuss over catching a ball?
I see Dick run and I see Jane run,
where is the fun at all?

And Hansel and Gretel got rid of the witch,
their father left them in the woods.
They found a ginger bread house out there,
I searched and searched, but I never could.

Then enters Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,
she ate a poisoned apple they say.
I've eaten many and never once slept,
and I'm still trying to this day.

And the Ugly Duckling had no friends,
until he grew into a beautiful swan.
Why can't we all just reason things out,
why can't we all just get along?

Well, here I sit and here I ponder,
I just can't hear anymore.
Is life an illusion, or am I here?
I guess I won't know until I am four.

Oh this is great, what a neat take on life,
and as well all know, the answers are just
never there. Just out of sight.
Very well written.
