Briny Tears
by Anna Kindred
copyright 02-15-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

The ebbing tide pushes sea foam onshore,
the sea gulls circle the choppy brine.
Alone on the sand sits a woman in tears,
her moment has passed, her moment to shine.

Tiny salt crystals of tears on her cheeks,
are dried and caressed by the blowing breeze.
She pulls deep down inside herself,
as she rocks herself gently holding her knees.

Looking out over the turbulent water,
she waits for the sun to kiss the horizon.
The waves reach up to the setting sun,
as if to embrace the sky, it's familiar chum.

When at last the sun lowers to the other side,
the woman breaths a sigh before she stands.
She walks out to the waters edge,
her foot prints erased, in the sand.

She walks forward towards the setting sun,
and is engulfed by the briny sea.
Leaving nothing behind, only stinging tears,
that were once dried by the blowing breeze.
