Your words inspire me
I absorb your dreams
I outline your schemes
My poems are words for your prayer;

Look deep,deep into me
I will be your mirror
I will be the hearer
Of your deepest despair;

Rest your frenzied brain
I'll try to calm your fears
I want to dry your tears
By caring, by being there;

Unburden yourself to me
I'll try to share your load
In thoughts, I'll walk that road
You'll know there's someone there;

I will reflect your pain
We will deflect your pain
We'll make you whole again
You'll know that someone cares....

Your stories make men sigh
We hear your hidden cry
Don't let this love go by
Reach out for help, it's there

These thoughts are not my thoughts
They come from all of you
That's why they ring true
My words put them out there..........

Disclaimer:
Poets write about what they see, or experience through the eyes of others; just as other writers do. They don't have to write autobiographical items, many times the poems are about imaginary situations or about things they have heard of or read about.
So many people seem to be in abusive situations these days, so much of the writing I read here and on another site are filled with pain, sorrow and regret. I would like to let these people know that another type of life may be open to them, and that they deserve better....Many comments I receive offer me sympathy or compliment me on my bravery. I do not deserve either. These are not my problems, they are just widespread problems.

I understand your poem perfectly. Half of what I write have nothing to do with me or my personality.

04-23-2003 Gregory Christiano

We all need to think positively once in a while. What we really need is some inspiration, some uplifting vision. Keep focused, keep striving for something better. Nice sentiment.

Hey big sis, this sounds familiar to me. If only all people who are in danger had someone to tell them that they're loved and that someone really cares and is willing to help them, this world would be much better. However, I think only animals understand their persons' sorrows, and do not judge. Good read! Love ya, Little sis

Great analogy. I never thought about it that way. But it's true. We do write for others. Although I hesitate to do so because I don't want people to think I'm talking about myself. Maybe I should just quit worring about others. But on the other hand I don't want to make people think I'm in an unhappy relationship or something like that. It's a tough call to paint yourself w/ the problems of others. So I do commend you for that.

Thank you Betty. So nice to read, especially the disclaimer. It reminds me of how glad I am to be a part of this site. Each author here is an inspiration to me.

So well spoken and very beautifully at that. What a wonderful outlook you have and it's wonderful to share all these thoughts with the world.

Lovely poem and I agree with your disclaimer.

I second what Marylin Wilkerson said. I too have the pen and pad at bedside which is where I get most of my ideas at 3:00 a.m .
Wonderful poem Betty, and thanks for your welcome and comments. Truly appreciated.

02-22-2002 Marilyn Mackenzie

Excellent. As one who is "gifted" with getting ideas in the middle of the night about topics on which to write, or even entire stories or poems, I keep a pad and pencil by the bed. Even I often question why I feel a need to write about something I haven't really experienced, but have seen. As a usual "Ms. Merry Sunshine," if I dare write something with just a bit of gloom, my friends are certainly concerned for my well being.

Thanks for the chuckle Kay Lee, we will have to check out the brew pub one day and get into a discussion group.....

02-18-2002 Kay Lee Kelly

Great work, I write doom and gloom all the
time, it is the pen's fault, not mine,

02-18-2002 Bob Church

Thanks for this, Betty. Among your poems that I've enjoyed most.

02-18-2002 Peggy Bertrand
