Words To Live By

I'm taking a few words that were impressed upon me as I prayed for this new world we are living in. They are words found in the Bible, that Paul used in 1 Corinthians 13:13. He linked them together saying " And now abide FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE, and the greatest of these is LOVE . (The King James version-1611 says faith hope, and charity).

If ever these words were needed, it is now, in the atmosphere of terrorism we live under today. FAITH, HOPE, LOVE. Say them to yourselves, say them out loud, let your tongue curl around them and immerse them into your psyche. This is a time when no other words could have greater meaning. In the present predicament we face in this country, and the world, we surely need Hope to cope. What can we hope in? First we must have faith in some source that we can turn to for help. A majority of the worlds people believe in the Creator. It is my belief that it is such faith that allows us to love others, even the unloveable in the eyes of the world.

So we have faith in God, we place our hope in Him, and we pray for the grace to love our neighbors as ourselves. What better way to face up to what we must, in this time of terror that can so demoralize and defeat those who have no buffer to see them through. I hear people crying out, " How can I raise children in this environment,... What do I now, I'm out of work... How can I trust anything anymore? " Legitimate questions. There is a history of difficult times in our past, to look at and remember. Wars and unrest that gave our parents and others the same feelings of fear that we have now. They made it through. How? With FAITH, HOPE, LOVE. Faith that God would hear their prayers, answers to prayer that gave them hope, and love for their families and friends that spilled over to others, because their faith allowed God to fill them with an abundance that covered all.

It sounds trite to give people three words and expect them to heed these words and so have a better life. The thing is, they are words that God inspired. That is what makes the difference. God inspired Paul through the Holy Spirit to write this verse. We are told that the greatest is love for only when you have learned to love can you have faith which in turn gives hope. So yes these three words can make life better for us, because we are doing something that a loving God, has proposed for us to do to get by in this very difficult time we spend here on earth.

We are living under a threat of the unknown. Yet, in God we may find peace. Peace that comes through faith. Our economy is tottering, another unknown, yet in hope we know that God is in control. We are pressured with having to once again face our true feelings about race color and creed. This is one subject that can only be changed with love. So I offer today three words that just may be able to help us improve our attitude, and our daily life, FAITH, HOPE, LOVE. There is one other verse that I hope you will think about, it helps to take one day at a time;-)

Matthew 6:34 "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." So please don't worry over things that haven't happened and may never happen, and may God bless us all.

This is such a great read..everything is in the unknown category as far as I'm concerned, but I know that God is in control and things will happen in the way they are supposed to..that's what gives me the courage and strength to keep on truckin'!

Great message. We need to pray, for I do worry about things that are bound to happen. Who would have thought the events of 11 September would take place. God bless you.
