Poetry Is
by Nancy Pawley
copyright 02-25-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Poetry is best served as in-flight tested actions and reactions
Flying straight-arrow by the seat of your pants
unflinching, no matter what validated feelings are invoked
Icons, confirmed and rendered as the good, the bad and the ugly

Poetry is a missioned reason, translucent and transparent
superimposed in expressive dream-visions
Appearing farsighted beyond the rifled scope of intuition
the mooring range of time and space

Poetry leaves behind the unpredictable deadly shell of walking vagaries
A newblood start to life and living
in au courant fresh ideas of enthusiastic change
reminding us that the treasure-trove of gentle springtime
always follows winter's geometric freeze

Poetry is an eccentric enchantress, a photogenic sorceress
Instilling altruistic emotions and prismatic feelings
Formulated in exacted theoried moments
a newly born mental leeway, a gateway legacy
Bequested bio-rhythms, conceptual cycles of where we've been and what we've seen

Poetry sways us in periodic mood sonatas
A son et lumiere, a lighted spectacle of dramatic sound effects
episodes of well-known pomp and unknown circumstance
famous events staged throughout recorded history

Poetry is a classic act of unselfish movements,
developing unwavering beliefs that sharing, caring, and outright love
Bring unified salvation to the very soul of the self discovered heart

Poetry is a flight of fantasy or as Wordsworth said, it opens magic windows for us.
