A Fairytale
by Debi Holt
copyright 02-25-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

This is a poem that I wrote when I married my husband. I had known him since I was 5, and really had a serious crush on him when I was 10. The only problem with that - he was 18 and hardly knew I existed. He just thought that I was a cute "little girl." Neither of us could have ever guessed that fate would have such a turn as to put us together again after 20 years! So to all those who may have given up.... there is hope yet!!

A Fairytale

Soft as the unspoken word,
Just as a petal falling is unheard,
So is my heart's desire,
Quiet and yet on fire.

Burning brightly, ever deep
Secretly knowing it shall reap
A love so strong and bold,
A fairytale once foretold.

It's hard to find a love so true,
Searching your whole life through,
Hoping, praying, wishing still,
For something you know is real.

Once you've tasted it, and know it's there,
It becomes a burden that's hard to bear.
Your very soul is in danger,
For you no more are alone - a stranger.

Your life becomes entwined
With antoher heart, another mind.
Sight is muddled, ears ring,
The heart flutters, the birds sing.

Patience is the question,
Every touch bringing such sensation.
So filled with life you want to be
Close to your soul-mate who sets you free.

And then it happens, you are together,
And will be through any kind of weather.
With your true love eternity to spend
Just as any fairytale should end.
