When Was the Last Time?
by Anna Kindred
copyright 02-26-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

When was the last time you said, "I love you"?
I tell you everyday.
Maybe not in so many words,
but it's the things I do, not what I say.

When was the last time you sent me flowers?
I pick yours freshly on a daily basis.
They may not have stems or petals or thorns,
but it's in the smiles of our children's faces.

When was the last time you held me tight?
I held you up after a bad day at work.
I might not have arms that are as strong as yours,
but they're by your side through all your quirks.

When was the last time you saw me smile?
I admit, it was ages ago.
I might not be a beauty queen,
but I'm the same woman that you once used to know.

When was the last time you came to me?
I'm here every day for you.
I struggle each day to bite the tears,
but they often fall like they usually do.

When was the last time you offered your hand?
I'm laden down with such a heavy load.
I often wonder and ask myself,
are we traveling down the same dusty road?

When was the last time...?
