A Bittersweet Sonnet

Bittersweet

Now with the purple of night descending
Strong thoughts of you forcfully strike my mind
Doors of doubt deny memories ending
of delightful days when life was divine
Like lavender orchids and turtle doves
That wakened our mornings bodies in tune
Tempestuous coupling ,dawns early love
That gladly kept us in flight until noon
See the green lawns now bereft of flowers
Where crimson roses did fragrantly bloom
Come all you gods of misjudgement, slay me
For you have already gained my bedroom

Elephant bones in the land of the dead
Keep making rounds in the tomb of my head

It is hard when one's love is gone and you are left alone. The nights are long and the bed seems cold. Great write, Anthony
