Baseball Haiku
by Eileen Waldron
copyright 02-27-2002

Age Rating: 4 to 127

Baseball...haiku

bases are loaded
multitudes become breathless
field of dreams awaits

wood fashioned for hands
in confrontation with ball
driven heavenwards

ascend pitcher's mound
caress the ball in the glove
three strikes and your out

umpire calls ball one
the batter begins his dance
fans yell out HOMER

As the season is soon to start, I get the feeling

These Haiku follow the 3 line...5-7-5 syllable style.

Heck I don't like baseball. Still you seem to wax enthusiastic about it. I feel it in my bones.
