When the darkness comes
In the worst way
Will I be there for you?
Will I finally stay?
When the darkness comes
And the sun is gone
Will I light your soul?
Or bring it down?
When the darkness comes
And the river runs dry
Will I inspire you?
Will I help you write?
When the moon is full
And there’s time for romance
Will I play my part?
Will I learn to dance?
When the stars are out
And the mood is right
Will I kiss you soft?
Will you put up a fight?
When you feel my lips
When they caress yours
Will you understand?
Will you beg for more?
When you feel my warmth
In our private embrace
Will you hold onto me?
Will you be my grace?
When I feel all alone
When the darkness comes
Will you get me through
Will you be my sun?
When we’re apart
When I’ve lost all hope
Will you guide me back?
Will you bring me home?
I give my soul to you
You give your soul to me
I’d give my life for you
Would you give yours for me?
This is a thought of mine
As I sit and try
To make a choice
Finally decide
Would I be enough
For you to be
As happy as
You’ve wanted to be?
Will you come with me?
Will you take a chance?
Will you stand by me?
Come on take my hand…
In the darkness here
Before the dawning day
I know you are there
And that you’ll always stay
If I’m true to you
And I give my all
I know you’ll never
Ever let me fall
This promise made
Between me and you
A dandelion wish
For hearts so true
This promise made
Between you and me
Will finally set
Our pure hearts free
And we will follow them
To where they lead
Where we will finally find
All we’ll ever need

You write a lot of really long poems. This one was a lot better because though it was long the lines were short and it did not take a long time to read and therefore I didn't loose my train of thought! Thanks, Anthony
Well done! I particularly liked the repeated darkness theme, This piece also has some fine lyrical qualities which could be used in a dark love ballad. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this one, Dan. It's touching. My son used to call dandelions gone to seed "wishes". Partly for the sound you can imagine they make when they drift away, partly for the actual wishes. :-)
