Losing Shadows

Time twisting
Turning through the seconds
Leftover scents
Spent reflections
Winter through the looking glass
Yet it's spring
Definitely warmer on the other side
I want to go to the other side
I want to see myself from the other side
What do they see?
Do they see this world weary traveler
Beckoning for rest?
Do they see the sun setting
And the twilight becoming the world?
I see a rising sun
Enlivening a mosaic
With slices of fresh, newborn light
All the colors crisp and clear
Rejuvenation through a loss of shadow
Not like here
Where the darkness breeds defeat
And defeat breeds restlessness
And from restlessness comes insanity
I am not insane
Though I feel it rising
Like the gorge up my throat
One day, one day soon
There will be an explosion inside
All the switches will be flipped
Mental overrides derided
Sudden inspirations becoming fried
And… and what does it feel like to fly?
How does it feel to close those eyes
And see beyond the living sight
See between the so clearly defined lines
And escape through them
Into the lighted passageway
Leaving the night behind
Shadows are just shadows
Nothing more
Nothing more
Yet it feels like I'm being watched
Though no one has come through the door
Gazing, hazing, dazing into the void
A darkened mirror
But it's just a ploy
Just a ruse to fool me into thinking
I have nothing left to lose
That the future lies within the mirror
Within the precious confines of such a slender space
Waiting for me to smash through
But all that would remain
Would be the broken pieces
Slivers of silver shining bright
Reflecting angelic candlelight
I've got light on the brain
And it's driving me insane...
Yet keeping me close to the borders
Edging toes, cold nose
I feel the darkness
And what it knows
I feel the shadows…
They are my clothes

Your descriptions are great but this also seems to ramble on. Maybe you could try a shorter poem and try to shorten the scope of the thought you are going for, Anthony
