I Chose This
A leaf, blows in the wind
It stops to listen
Then it sails away
Never knowing, just where it will end.
A rock, it skips across a lake
It is running
From something
How much more can it take?
The rock, can it remember?
Probably so
I'm sure it would like to develop amnesia
Just to let it all go.
The leaf, I'm not so sure
It's still flying somewhere
Maybe happy, maybe sad
Or just maybe it does not care.
The leaf, it was so tossed
Like a tempest
So violent and tumultuous
Is now forever lost.
The rock, it hides
At the bottom of the lake
The joy of skipping is gone
The rock begins to quake.
Little by little
It erodes away
Until it no longer resembles the rock
Maybe, a lump of clay?
I have lived the life
Of the leaf
And,
Of the rock.
Now I am only the clay
Toss me on the potter's wheel
Maybe I can be better,
Is that how you feel?
