I've Heard
by Anna Kindred
copyright 03-03-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

I've heard that you have to be in darkness,
in order to see the light.
I've heard that you have to succumb to pain,
in order to put up a fight.

I've heard that you have to walk the straight and narrow,
in order to take a fall.
I've heard that you have to cry a bucket of tears,
in order to have loved at all.

Why all the contradictions,
why is life a task?
Why can't I find an easier road,
it is too much to ask?

Life is full of pain and misery,
enjoyment is only for the early bird.
Love is found only to be lost,
that is what I've heard.

I've heard, and am beginning to believe, that only that which is finite can be lost, or can be even gained in the first place. True love is like God-- never born, nor never dies. It's always there; you just have to stop looking so hard to really see that it's there all the time, right in front of our faces!
