I Live In The Project

I live In The Project

I live in a project.
In the daytime the little kids sometimes gather round.
Sometimes I just watch them play.
Other times I pass out chocolate chip cookies.
I smile to see the expressions on their faces.

Night time and it is dark in the project.
The kiddies all nestled and sleeping in their beds.
Outside the wind is gently stirring.
From one apartment I can hear the T.V. blaring.
From another I can hear a couples arguement.

Thats the life going on in the project.
Trash and cigarette butts all over the ground.
Cops at the project almost every day.
Watching them as I eat a chocolate cookies.
Thinking about the many different faces.

Night time....the moon and the stars shining down on the project.
Little children dreams all filling their heads.
So innocent and so trusting.
Parents all doped up and uncaring.
I have no further comment.
