THE EARTH IS GREEN, THE HEAVEN'S BLUE

Jacqueline Anastasia

Today the sky weeps and with its tears
Flowers grow tall, strong, and beautiful.
Today the wind is cold, and chills me,
But whispers in my ears call me.
The sun shines but without warmth
As my heart cries with questions.
Tears flow freely, silently down my face.

But I hear the laughter within myself
And see her running through the fields,
Young again, free again, and well again.
I see her as she is today, well and happy,
I see the young girl running free and uninhibited.
Through my tears and pain, I know she is free
Happy, and at peace for always.

I look at the trees and they stand taller,
I hear the brook tumbling over rocks
Singing a song of release and joy.
I watch the squirrels playing and think of
What I miss but what she sees and feels.
I am alone in my pain but she is free of hers
And now she is with her Creator forever.

Someday I will join her across that meadow,
Into her forest, and fly the skies with her again.
But until that day, I will hear her voice, listen for her laughter,
Miss her, but know she is here always.
I know she will never leave me alone, she will guide my path,
She will hold my hand and walk with me.
I feel peace, and the sky weeps no more.
