The winter is falling away
A veil of darkness
That fades
Becoming gray
Silent in early morning
As the dew collects
On the first few buds
Silent in the transition
As the world wakes
And remembers how to breathe
It is this way for any who have died
And this is the same for all dreams
When the sleep dissipates
Leaving the brain foggy
Resurrection from the night
So many memories
Left behind until the next time
But will there be a next time?
Will we ever sleep again?
Ever die again?
Ever learn to breathe again?
Ever see the sun again?
Ever feel the warmth again?
The warmth of the touch
On your most private parts
Ghostly now like feathers
Almost too ticklish to withstand
A memory there of a feeling
A sensation at the brink
A scent left behind lingering
Lingering like the dew on the buds
A reminder of what had been
And what could be again
Newborn, new life, rebirth, arisen
Casting aside all doubts
There will be a second chance
Another try for the glory goal
One that none can take away
For the future is rewritten at each sigh
Never in stone until it fades from light
Rewards for holding out so long
Seeming lifetimes have passed in between
Since the last time...
Since the never time...
Since the first thought that it could be possible
And it will be again
As if it never was
It will be beautiful
Like the springtime
