Girl Missing
Chapter 1
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 03-08-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

“Hey Chet” “want to pull in for a cup of java?”

Aaron the officer of patrol car 10 answered.” sure we will meet you out at the café on 1-29.”

The four officers had handled the graveyard shift for the past two years. And their favorite place for a java break was Connie’s Café at the old truck stop on the interstate.

Aaron and Bruce his partner arrived at the café first. They went in and saved a table for the other two officers. It had been a quiet Sunday night for a change not much going on.

Being called to the scene of a domestic argument with a spouse and his wife. One minor accident drinking teens out late hit a sign went into a ditch flat tire. Driving daddy’s car of course.

Not much excitement for the night.

Sally their favorite waitress made her way to the table. “Two glasses of java.”

“Sally four waters and four coffee’s” Aaron said as he smiled and winked at Sally.

Chet walked in first followed by Gary his partner. “Hey Aaron did you order coffee.”
“Sure did she should be right back.”

“Slow night not a disturbance in hours”. Gary said as he sighed.

“You Guy’s sure look bored,” Sally mentioned as she sat down the coffee and waters.
“No wild activity tonight.” She smiled as she strolled back to the counter.

“No not a thing to do but drive around and drink coffee and visit you our favorite waitress.” Bruce chuckled as he answered her question.

The officers had finished their second cup of coffee. Gary’s walkie-talkie on his belt sounds off static followed by a female voice. “Car # 9 come in.” dispatcher Ruth said in a serious voice. Gary removed his walkie-talkie and answered back.

“Go ahead dispatcher this is car #9.” Quickly with a reply.

“A report has been called in of possible foul play over at the Seven Eleven on Garrison street in riverside.” Ruth sounded like she was out of breath. “ The clerk on duty said that a young girl possibly late teens entered the store. Used the restroom, bought a pop and then left. “

“The clerk observed that as she was getting into her car on the drivers side a pickup blue and white pulled up two guys approached her from behind rushed the teen and threw her into the front of their cab and speeded off. “

“He said he didn’t get a license number no license in the front of vehicle.” The four officers had thrown down their money waved goodbye to Sally and raced to their patrol cars.

Ruth the dispatcher carried on.” He said they left in such a fast speed that he didn’t catch the back license plate either.” “I will be contacting car # 10 also on this one.” Gary keys up the radio in the patrol car.

He answered the dispatcher,” both car #10 and #9 are in transit of the scene of the crime.”

“Thank you” replied Ruth.

The scene of the report was less than three miles from the café. So they didn’t take long to arrive. Bruce went into the store to speak with the clerk. He proceeded to make a report, and gather information about this abduction.

The other officers remained in the lot looking for signs of evidence of a struggle and checking out the possible missing Jane Doe’s vehicle.

Bruce finished with the clerk gave him a card and said” if he remembers anything do call and let the police station know. “

Mean while out front the other officers had bits and pieces for the puzzle of this crime.
