Girl Missing
chapter 3
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 03-08-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

Mr. And Mrs. Cain asked them to sit at the dining table. All four of them sat down.

Aaron proceeded to speak,” We need to talk to you folks about your vehicle?” we were called to the Seven eleven at 1:15 A.M.

Seems that a young girl was driving the Caprice had been in the store and then when she left she was approached by two men in a pickup.”

Mrs. Cain said,”Oh My God nothing has happened to Karly.”

Mr. Cain told the officers that Karly was their 17-year-old daughter. She had been out babysitting across town. He asked ,” Are you sure that Karly was the girl?”

“Were assuming that it is unless someone’s else has been driving that car? “ Aaron replied. Aaron asked if Mr. Cain would call the people his daughter was babysitting for?

Mr. Cain replied” Of course I will.”

Bruce glanced at Aaron and they both were having the same thoughts. Seen this many times. It is hard for parents to accept something may have happened to their Child.

Aaron said,"We needed to rule out that this was Karly and not any other girl driving that car."

Mr. Cain spoke to someone on the other line,” Cheryl I hate to call you so late this is Marcus. I assume Karly is done babysitting could you tell me what time she left?”

He was silent.

He replied,” I see and she didn’t mention stopping over at a friends before going home?”

“Yes we will and we hope so also.”

Mrs. Cain was crying and holding a hanky over her mouth poor woman looked like she was in hell at the moment.

Marcus looked at Aaron and Bruce and he said,” She left there at 1:00 A.M. and yes it was our daughter Karly driving the car.”

He shook his head.

Bruce told the Cain’s that they would need a picture of Karly a recent one to get circulated.

He would need as much information as they could give about whom she knows and if she had been fighting with any one, did she know any one or them that came around in a pick up. Did Karly have a steady boyfriend? Any information they could gather from what she was wearing to identifying marks or scares.

Aaron spoke,” I know this is frightening and you have just been shocked terribly.”

“ There are other officers in pursuit of these assailants.” And we hope to have good news for you in the mean time we all have to do our part.”

The Cain's understood and cooperated with the officers with everything they could.

Aaron and Bruce thanked the Cain’s and gave them cards with the crime # on it and told them they would stay in touch and they could call if they remember anything or contacted by Karly. They both gave their concerned goodbyes and left the Cain’s home.

Back in the car Bruce sighed and said,” those poor people”. Aaron nodded his head in agreement. He said.” for sure.”
