In the Street
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 03-09-2002

Age Rating: 7 to 127

A child alone in the street
Dark and cold
Hearing the shuffle of lonely feet
Trash is growing mold
No pillow to lay her head
The wind is very harsh
Didn’t eat today not even bread
Might as well be on a marsh
She left home
All she does is roam

In Memory to all the Runaways on the streets

I read this work twice before it really translated into my soul. It is a very poignant write. It stresses loneliness, hunger, Weariness, hopelessness.

A runaway feeling the emotions of futility. I was left empathizing with the runaway.

Yikes, this is sad.

I have a friend in Chicago, he sent me photos of homeless children. So sad. They are there, and no one cares.
