W.B. Yeats said,
"A poem should click shut like a closing box."
The last line is what the reader takes away with him.
Now if you are still with me, on to the poem.

"and He cried with a loud voice:
Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees. "
(Revelation.)
A Whispered Plea
The cutter came to day
Saws, ax in tow
He gazed at the row
Of age old oaks
Smiled, nodded
Like he said hello.
Grate of the saw
Chills the air,
Swish of the branches as they fall,
crash of trunks,
scattered leaves,
Silent cries,
muffled screams.
Wounded ancient oak
Stumbles to her knees,
Haunting wind-wept beauty,
Vanquished for eternity.
If you listen carefully
Sighing through the leaves
Angel ‘s whispered pleas,
Don’t hurt the trees.
Don’t hurt the trees.
