The Sea of Writing

The ship has finally left the harbor for waters unknown... (An afterthought from my previous article on "Why I Write".)

I like to view my writing as a very large craft with glorious sails:

**********************

The ship is anchored in the harbor,
nestled in its dock,
tied securely to prevent
premature escape into
the unknown waters.

The interior nooks and crannies
hold unlimited space for ideas
that have not yet matured,
not yet been polished,
awaiting release into
the unknown world.

The hatches remain
securely battened down,
to weather any impending storm,
protecting the vessel from the threat
of drowning and sinking
to the depths of...
the deep and vast seas.

When the ship finally chooses
a day to cast off,
lifting its anchor
and raising its sails,
it speeds gloriously and triumphantly
with the wind at its back.

It knows no destination,
surging with reckless abandon
into waters unknown,
leaving behind the secure spot
in the harbor
for another ship to claim.

You are obviously a boat lover because all you have posted here refer to ships at sea. You write very well and I have enjoyed your work. I hope you come back someday so we can see how your writing has grown! Anthony

Welcome Lisa! Hope you get a chance to read some of my material also! Some of it is new and some not so new. I am glad you gave us a poem to read! As I said, welcome Lisa.

I thought about not leaving a comment because you know I love everything you write but then I thought...this way, now everyone else knows too. :)
