Girl Missing
Chapter 18
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 03-17-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

They had now positioned the boat two feet from the duck blind. They were preparing to move in closer. Still they heard no sounds from within it.

No motion was obvious on the inside of it. All four of the officers remained very cautious as they approached the duck blind.

Terri was viewing them from the bank on the other side of the river. She was very tense.

She heard a sound behind her like twigs snapping as if someone was coming up from behind her.

She was to frighten to turn in the direction to see what had caused the noise.

Snap snap she heard the noise again only it was really close to her now.

Something rubbed up against her back and started to rub around her side.

“Oh dear Lord.” She said. She looked down at her side.

“Your only a cat!” she took a big breath and let out a huge sigh of relief. Then she reached over and petted the cat.

Mean while in the boat on the other side of the river. The officers were positioning the boat a few feet from the duck blind.

Aaron and Bruce would go inside the old blind and look around. Gary and Chet would keep a look out and wait for them.

Bruce waited just outside of the door while Aaron went inside.

He motioned to Bruce to come in. Over against the wall was a body of a partially dressed girl from her torso up.

She had a chain around her neck her hands were tied with rags. She didn’t appear to be moving or breathing.

Around the body a few feet from her were dishes with dried up food and one with water.
They had treated her like a dog. She had been assaulted in more ways than one.

But Aaron knew it was Karly their missing Girl.

Aaron bent over to lift her hair from her face and as he did she moved. She opened her eyes and looked at him.

Aaron reassured her that they were there to rescue her. She violently pulled away and started to sit up.

She was frightened of them afraid it was a trick to harm her again.

“Help they will be back.’ She said in a very hoarse voice.

“I just want to go home please.” She pleaded with them.

“You can Karly you can.” Bruce replied.

Aaron went over to the other side of the duck blind he found a pile of clothing her pants were there. He handed them to her and helped her put them on.

She had multiple bruises all over her torso along her neck and her face.

She was crying so much they couldn’t tell if she was in a lot of pain or just emotional about being found.

“Thank God you found me.” She managed to speak.

Bruce broke the chain off of the floor it had a lock on the neckband.

“Dam this looks like they have done this before.” Said Aaron.

“Karly we will have to leave this on till we can have it removed by a locksmith.” He told her.

“It’s okay please I want to leave.” She replied.

“They are coming back today I heard them when they left yesterday.” She said.

“How many of them are there Karly?” Bruce asked.

“Two men.” Karly answered.

They walked her slowly towards the boat. After she was safely inside the boat. Aaron and Bruce told them to shove off and get her to a hospital and let her parents and the station know she’s now safe.

Send reinforcements we are staying. Aaron told them and then he turned towards karly to speak.

“Karly you will be safe now.” Said Bruce.

“Yes Karly safe.” Agreed Aaron.

“Karly do they come in a boat?” he asked.

“Yes they brought me her in a aluminum boat.” She replied.

“How did you know where to find me?” she asked hoarsely again.

“It is a long story I will share with you when I’m back.” Said Aaron.

“Try not to talk so you don’t loose any more of your voice.” Chet said.

“Bruce and I are going to remain here we have a surprise for those two if they do come back.
