Girl Missing
Chapter 21
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 03-17-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

Terri was still watching from the bank the old duck blind.

She heard snapping and crackling brush from behind her she turned this time

She saw several officers. Sergeant Rolliard made his way down to where she was.

“Seen anything yet?’ He asked her.

“Not yet no one has gone up or down since the officers left with the girl.” She replied.

“By the way I’m Sergeant Rolliard.” He said.

“Glad to meet you I thought that was your voice.” She replied.

He shared with her and she shared with him the bizarre way they came to the conclusion that Karly was out there in a duck blind.

“You know most homicides are committed within 50 miles of the victims home.” He said.

“No I had no idea.” She replied.

“Who’s your friend he leaned over to pet the cat?” He asked

“ Not sure I was sure he was the two men going to do me in when he crept up on me earlier.” She said with a smile.

“Well I for one am glad it was a cat and not them.” He replied with a smile.

“You know I am going to look at the aspect of ESP. different from now on.” He stated.

His radio keyed up “Sergeant” Travis here sir down by the bend.” He continued.” There is a boat with two men traveling down stream towards you.” he finished.

“Okay Travis just keep a look out and till we tell you other wise.” Replied the Sergeant.

“Looks like me may get on with this after all.” He said.

“That’s if these are the assailants headed this way by boat.” he commented.

Still no sign of them the two assailants from the rivers view while they all watched quietly for the boat.

Terri thought about the two officers in the duck blind how brave they were and dedicated to their jobs. She was proud to know Aaron Wolten.

Sounds of a motor could be heard now as the boat carrying the two men cleared the bend and headed straight for the duck blind.

It was obvious it was the two assailants. And that they also didn’t see the hidden boat of officers a quarter of a mile back.

The two men approached the duck blind. They tied their boat to the side of it and jumped off into the waters edge.

Both men headed into the duck blind.

From the distance no one would hear a thing and it seemed like a long time since they went inside.

They heard a gun shot. Terri looked thru her binoculars towards the boat and sound of the shot.

The officers in the boat pulled up to assist the other two officers. “Were coming out they heard someone say.”

“They are tied up inside. “ Bruce added.

After leaving the duck blind and being greeted by the other officers they were full of questions to how it came about that they were there as backup.

“Some lady contacted Sergeant Rolliard.” One of the officers said.

“ Terri Miles.” Said Aaron.
He looked a t Bruce and they both smiled.

Inside you will find two guys handcuffed. They told the other officers.

“By the way the one has a shot wound in his leg. He will need some medical attention.

Another boat arrived on the scene to take Bruce and Aaron over to the other side of the river where Terri and Sergeant Rolliard would be waiting.

The rest of the officers put the two prisoners into the other boat and transported them to the jailhouse in Sioux City.

It didn’t take long for Aaron and Bruce to arrive to the other side of the river.

“Good work you two.” Said Sergeant Rolliard.

“Terri called and alerted us to this situation with a rescue.” He continued.

“Are you both alright.” He asked.

Both men in total unison said. “Yes Sir.”

“We have lot to talk about will do that back at the station.” Said the Sergeant.

Aaron walked towards Terri. He took her hand into his and told her thanks.

“She would be dead you know if it weren’t for you.” He said.

“Not me just the gift.” She said with a smile.

“ I was really worried about you and the others.” She said.

“It seems we had a very good specialist lining up the backup no need to have worried.” He said.

“Very good assistance.” Replied Bruce.

They all left even Terri for the Police Station.
