The Nations... part one
by Eileen Waldron
copyright 03-17-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

Part One

I am posting this piece I wrote in 1994. I think it is right for this time. It's about how God says He will deal with the Nations. To my utter surprise, when I decided to post this , the very next day I got a Beliefnet newsletter, in which Diana Eck's new book "A New Religious America", was previewed. Here is an excerpt of what was said:

Harvard University religion scholar Diana Eck says the United States is now the most religiously diverse nation in the world, thanks to the Immigration Act of 1965, which eliminated quotas linking immigration to national origins. Since then, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Zoroastrians, and new varieties of Jews and Catholics have arrived from every part of the globe and altered the religious landscape. Eck recently spoke with Deborah Caldwell, Beliefnet's religion producer, about America's new religious pluralism, which she documents in her new book, "A New Religious America."

I have a few other excerpts for later, from the beliefnet page. I have not read the book, but intend to soon. I could say "isn't that a coincidence", my posting the article now, but in reality a higher power is in charge.;-) Please read the entire piece I have put it in two parts. The Scripture's are very important , because they show just how much better off we would be if we would take God at His word. Thank you for reading and comments are really appreciated.

God and the Nations (How will we be judged)

Life comes in all shapes and sizes. So do hopes and dreams, and so do Nations. As the dominant life force we humans on this planet, put here by a loving Creator, having been given dominion over all other things, were never meant to live outside of God's purview. We were meant to keep our focus on the Godhead. Our aspirations are supposed to be fixed firmly on His principles.

Isaiah 51:4-6 God speaks through Isaiah "Listen to Me,My people, and give ear to Me, O My Nations: for law will proceed from me, and I will make My justice rest as a light of the people. My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, and My arm will judge the peoples; the coastlands will wait upon Me, and on My arm they will trust."

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, the earth will grow old like a garment, and those who dwell in it will die in like manner; but My salvation will be forever, and My righteousness will not be abolished."

Isaiah 61:11 "For as the earth brings forth its bud, as a garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the Nations!"

Why does all this activity between the Nations, effect us? if we look into the next decade, we will see how all these treaties and tradings will cause an unprecedented influx of people's of other nations into this country, the bulk of which will not be Christian.

If we are not already a minority in this country, we are fast becoming one, and Christians have a responsibility to prepare ourselves for the role which we will play in this new society, which is imminent. If we are not alert to, and up to date on the fast breaking changes coming our way, then we have only ourselves to blame if our message gets buried under the onslaught of newcomers.

I do not fear foreigners, we should welcome them. What I fear is Christian's who are not informed properly, or adept enough to interact correctly. We have some Christians afraid to deal with anyone who is not exactly like them. Then we have the opposite type who think the sledgehammer approach is the only way to spread our message. As ambassador's for Christ, we should give Him the sensible, truthful, and honorable representation He deserves.

Our global community may no longer be under the threat of a nuclear holacaust from the super-powers, nevertheless there are dangerous hot spots all over the world. Politics and religion run paralel to each other like two power-lines that every so often converge and cause an explosion of events that dangle like hot-wires, requiring the attention of experts.

This piece is incredible. And yes, I, too, welcome diversity. Christians are absolutely in the minority today. And yes, too many think people should be just like them to survive. But as you so exquisitely commented...not so.

Excellent write.
