Aphrodite
by Chris Ingham (Age: 62)
copyright 03-19-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

Aphrodite
Just another literary love song.

She has always been close to me,
Swirling upon the foaming shore
Of my fertile imagining.
I have stood, waiting on the sands
For her to arise on the tide
From the depths of my fantasy
Into my world of reality.

She has been my constant siren
Enticing me to come to her
Through the rocky ravening foam
Into the depths of her desire.
While I, cold and grey and afraid
Have stood frozen upon the beach
Of my mind, unwilling to reach

Out to her. Instead I searched
For her in the imagining
Of those who have had the courage
To go to her, embrace the risk.
Delight in her exquisite beauty.
I sought her image ideal,
Primavera, Galadriel.

But still she calls insistently
And I am tempted by her plea.
Now I know she will come to me,
I wait on the sands of the sea
For my love, Aphrodite.

May the Goddess of Love smile upon you for this one. An elegant way of telling the reader that the persona's fear of the risks involved in loving
are diminishing and, come springtime(perhaps),will evaporate and Love will find a way.
Written by a true poet.
