Dark Eyes
How they beckon to me
Urge me now to seek ecstasy
Sweet sighs – how they reckon with me
Remind me of the opiate breezes of my youth
Horizons loom before me across the azure waves
Imagining I cup her face, our lips are melded blaze
Dark tresses on red satin, silk skin in candlelight
Dear Lady, I‘d adore thee throughout the velvet night
The silent sea is swelling, the ship tossed to and fro
Will I survive – no telling, the cold lurks down below
Lace dresses with bare shoulders, the music of her voice
Enchanted by this reverie – in truth, there is no choice
Dark Eyes
How they beckon to me
Urge me now to seek ecstasy
Sweet sighs – how they reckon with me
Remind me of the opiate breezes of my youth
Meteors streak amidst the stars, I stare up at the skies
Everything reminding me of the “want to” in those eyes
The ocean undulating, her turbulent love throes
Spellbound by this Siren, I will follow where she goes
Dark Eyes
How they beckon to me
Urge me now to seek ecstasy
Sweet sighs – how they reckon with me
Remind me of the opiate breezes of my youth

opiate breezes of my youth ... Sometimes, while reading your work, I feel like a child in awe - amazed by the experience and adeptness of a masterworker of the English language.
Everything reminding me of the “want to” in those eyes... Yes, even when words refuse to become audible, and will overpowers our desire to immediately act... we (women) find it nearly impossible to control our "want to" and mask it from within our eyes.
Spellbound by this Siren... And how many readers see the entire picture you paint?
I like this poem because like a good book/movie, there's more to discover nearly every time I read I read it again. (Yeah, I gave myself away... I read your works over and over.)
I'd like to hear this with some music. It reminds me of a song from the seventies called "Green Eyed Lady". Keep writing and maybe someday I'll recognize one of your lyrics on the radio!
