Thoughts in Morning Shoes
by Laryalee Fraser (Age: 68)
copyright 04-02-2002

Age Rating: 7 to 127

(If you're not a morning person, just ignore this, LOL!)

**************************************

I love the thoughts that morning brings;
they kick their heels and cartwheel, leap
from crumpled folds of night's attire,
disperse the muggy scent of sleep.

My daytime thoughts will march awhile
and form in notions, well-controlled,
until they go two ways at once
or toss me inklings I can't hold.

My evening thoughts will sneak away
(and sometimes I don't know they've gone)
to hide amongst the day's debris
or disappear inside a yawn.

But morning thoughts wear jogging shoes;
they bounce in rhythm, swing on beams,
unravel new idea threads,
reflect the colors of my dreams.

Lary,
this is wonderful poetry..I'm a morning person when school's in session, but otherwise I'm up past midnight!

That's for sure. I kind of wish they wouldn't grab me until sometime after 5:15 a.m.
because once they start they get my heart beating faster.

This is so outstanding!!! I never used to be a morning person, but with three kids, I've learned even a precious half hour to myself with my coffee in hand, my computer on, and such wonderful poetry as this to start my day....well, it is a blessed time of day! I also absolutely love your flawless rhyme and meter...'course I may be partial as it reminds me of my own style of writing! Thank you so much again for your comments on mine also!

I know this one I run every day and I have my cup of coffe while I put on my nikes. Good poem.

Well, ya know, we morning muffins can always use this at night when we wake up. I'm enjoying imagining thoughgts as things that run and play. :-)

You are the 8-count master of the world! This cadence is perfect for you, mischevious as your morning thoughts... Good stuff, Lary! Be careful, though, I'm starting to run out of superlatives for your work!
