Birdie In The Sky
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 04-19-2002

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Birdie, Birdie in the sky
How very high you can fly.
Birdie, Birdie in the sky
Mind me not if I seem to pry.

Have you traveled the world over?
Have you seen Ireland's clover?
Visited the Queen of England?
Flown high over ocean and inland?

Perhaps a Prince you chanced to meet?
Paused in flight, him to greet?
Have you flown across a mountain?
Or drunk from that youthful fountain?

Birdie, Birdie in the sky
As you fly so very high
Will you send my love
To the one living up above?

And this message to the Maker,
That I have become a Taker
One day to meet face to face
Dwelling in His heavenly place.

I really enjoyed this poem..if I could be the bird you speak of, I would feel most blessed.

Peggy, this is delightful...whimsical, yet it also seems quite possible! Sometimes I wonder...

Thank you from Peggy and Betty, for she gave me suggestions I have used and they have made this a wonderful poem.
