My cousin died at 62 of cancer. I found out after the funeral. She was a wonderful woman with a generous spirit. I would like to send her husband a poem in her honor. So I'm submitting this for critique. I don't usually write in rhyme, however, if you feel this would be better in rhyme, I'm open to suggestions.
God Welcomed Sandy
God took Sandy's hand to lead her home.
He needed her smiling face and gentle voice
To grace Heaven's golden skies.
Her path was strewn with white roses
To honor her life of giving and love
For family, friends, and strangers, too.
On her head she wore a crown of jewels,
wife, mother, grandmother, beloved child.
The angels sang a new song of her deeds
And welcomed her with a gilded robe
To join the Saints who have gone before.
Sandy resides in God's mansion of peace
Waiting for her family to join her again.
Her praises and prayers exault God Most High
And Intercede for those left behind.
