Oh, on the radio
I want to hear our song
Something sweet and peaceful
something slow and long
Like music from a bird
tho lyrics are from me
Listen to every word
to see just what I see
Oh, on the radio
I'm sure you'll hear our song
And maybe then you'll know
that we've done nothing wrong
The lessons that we've learned
We've done so painfully
And bridges that we've burned
they burned so beautifully
Oh, on the radio
I'll hear them sing our song
Others too, but they won't know
just how it all went wrong
All the words that they've heard
of things that just can't be
Like hatred being cured
and you here holding me
Oh, on the radio
please listen for our song
We wrote it when together
and I'll sing it all along
So, when the painting's blurred
and you try but can not see
When emotions have been stirred
that's when you'll be with me!

My poem "You'll Hear Our Song" was originally a VERY LONG song. I took out the chorus' and made a poem out of them. Now I've 2 to post instead of 1. If you wish to see how I wrote it originally, simply insert the first two stanzas of this poem after the first four of the other poem. And then the second two of this after the second four of the other, and so on. Let me know what you think... HONESTLY. I'd love to know and don't feel I can improve without your proffered criticism. Thanks so much!

This is very touching and sweet. It seems that every couple has their own song. I guess even my wife and I have our own song, although it is not a romantic song in the sense of the word, but it was popular at a special time in our lives together. Would you believe the song is "When The Music Died". (No one said I was normal - lol)
I really like this as it is. You say some very deep things here about relationships in a way that is nostalgic and elegiac, given the rhyme scheme; like a ballad. You are talented.
I am not good at being a critic. Even though I love poetry and read it often, I can't really get into the nitty gritty stuff. So excuse me, but I like the sing song effect of this poem. I see it is rather generalized but then it has greater appeal. Most of us have gone through lover hurts. Most of us have a song that we consider "ours". So what I'm trying to say is that I enjoyed the poem.
The only thing I'd change is the graphic which is startlingly way too large.
