Fragrant Poem

Once upon an endless time I lived steel-caged,
Building clanging bars of self-loathing and self-hatred
caught unaware in total darkness, locked tight behind the plated silence
I received the unexpected favor of your fragrant poem,
an anonymous gift, sweet eloquence in fullbloom
unwarranted, alpha and omega aspects, your written words upon a page
crafted ink, indelible letters etched into my heart and soul
The feeling of your loving friendship motivates, transcending priceless purity
Your kind endevors never letting go, can't be erased through timeless ages
Because you've always seen me in the best of byline lights
Of all the lips I've never kissed, I'm missing yours the most
Of all the hearts I've ever loved, to yours I would devote my breathing life
So come and fill my empty spaces, spread the mothering wings of your humanity
and give me cause to fly
