In theBoat of Herself
by Lisa W.

On the day of her birth,
she was christened ‘Free’
and was given a glorious send off
into the sea of life,
the astronomy of her spirit
spreading across the waters
as the stars in the galaxy.

By day she traveled a vast ocean of grace
by night the moonlight became her lighthouse.
The ocean does not let land animals in
to the places where delicate fish swim
so her life was surrounded
by safe harbors and protected by
loving caresses of liquid arms.

The calm was interrupted one day,
as the wind broke through the frozen moonlight, shattering the peaceful haven
she had so long felt safe in.
Her cries for negotiation to the vicious winds
were lost, drowned out by the wave that rose
from the courtyard hidden in the center
of the ocean’s chest.

Overturned by torturous raging waves
she began to sink slowly--
spiraling down to the bottom of the ocean floor, resting with a muffled thud in the carpets of sand
rocking with grief-laden intensity
until she finally lay still.
She remained this way for many months
until one day, the ocean seemed lit from within
rushes of water picked her gently from the floor
and hurried her to the distant land.

She was nestled softly by the ebbing of the waves
on the succulent sand-filled beach...
grains as white as the pure driven snow of winter.
She joyously wept in the grasp of the warming sun,
the waves still slightly licking her worn sides
as water washes over a beached fish.

She cast her anchor of faith to the shore
in hopes of procuring a new harbor
a new beginning, wishing someone
would find her soon and revel in her
ong lost beauty, making efforts to restore
her spirit and grace,
and become part of her being.

She knew that soon,
the wind would again be at her back,
her bow would once more
surge with pride through the waters of life
and the new man at her helm
would be her captain forever,
steering towards a course
that would unite them as one.

This is very poetic and the dream that is in every woman I know has an ending like this. This is written very nicely. Anthony

Hey girl! I love the way this flows and I always love reading what you write. I hope one day I can write pieces that are as deep.

I am speechless. This was beautiful.
