Painted Hills
by William Robbins
copyright 05-16-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

Summer’s transitory, vitreous vest of sizzle
mixes with the daystar
creating an oven’s spectacle
of flare and flame.
With it arrives
the perfume of aliveness,
and an end to winter’s
hibernation of the soul
along with the parching
within the mind
for a tickle of energy,
that touch of breath
when the flood
flows
intensely,
unrehearsed,
textured to a sundown
on late afternoons
after one dances on the collage of vibrant mounds
where life is an orchestra tense with awareness.

Summer has definitely arrived in your poem..can't say that it's hard for me to be caught tight in its grip as summer already has a hold of Georgia!
