When Words Collide
by Laryalee Fraser (Age: 68)
copyright 05-21-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

She sends one drifting; eggshell-light
and rolling on a question mark.
He hits it with a well-aimed launch --
his flint-toned edge sets off a spark.

A full barrage begins; words spin
and ricochet through air that now
is thick with waspish battle dust.
The hurlers won't retreat or bow.

The clinks and splats of frequent hits
reverberate until each side
proclaims a title in defeat.
For no one wins when words collide.

How do you do it so perfectly each time??!!...this just rolls off the tongue...and very clever indeed! :)

Verbal abuse of others is so prevelant. I think that you have said it wonderfully. No one wins in the battle of words.

So sad, yet so true. Great job.

Lary, it reminded me of when friends or lovers or family members get in a heated word quarrell and well you know the rest no one is the winner. This was clever and well done.
