First Fourth Of July
by Peggy Bertrand
copyright 05-30-2002

Age Rating: 10 to 127

So long ago was
the first fourth of July
Farther even than the era
of a man called Levi
Dated back even further
was this great day
Two months past A day in May
Before Adam many have come to say

It was a day to remember in all its glory
The sky burst forth in light so bright goes the story
Stars shot up to their spots and hung one by one
No not in the great city of Boston
But in the heavens above sparkled and smoldered
Brilliant blast of star shining
folds of fireworks anchored

He spoke let there be light
And behold the sky was bright
Earth and heaven both witnessed the
First Fourth Of July

I truly love this. What a way to add the meaning of the Fourth of July to the reality of creation. Great job!
