When I was young I stood defiant and proud.
Silent and cautious staying away from the crowd.
Being frustrated without answers,
burdened with only questions.
Being one against the grain.
I broke the chains.
I decided to live and face what comes my way.
As far as I could I threw those broken chains away.
I threw the broken chains away.
Survived the sixties and all that stuff.
Joined the military and that was enough.
Went into the Medical Corps with
battles won and lost.
Political madness with lives as the cost.
I danced with the devil more than once
for reasons I cannot explain.
Somehow I managed to walk out of the flames.
Looked at myself and I saw beyond the rain.
Being one against the grain.
I broke the chains.
