I Stand Alone
by Herb Burd
copyright 06-07-2001

Age Rating: 18 to 127

The sun has tried to rule me.
Darkness has made it's plea.
Silence's web has been sewn.
With emptiness to be my throne.
Lonely and tormented.
I stand alone.

I stand alone with my passion.
To a priest, I need not make a confession.
My heart I'll keep for my own.
I stand alone.
I stand alone.

Madness, no my soul it can't steal.
I knew that your love wasn't real.
Your not even close to home.
Like a gypsy my destiny is to roam.
Like a renegade.
I stand alone.

Angels of mercy, my heart they will defend.
Heaven only knows if I'll ever love again.
I have become solid as a mountain of stone.
Where there was love defiance has grown.
With my affections sealed.
I stand alone.

"My heart, I'll keep for my own" -- I can identify with that. Very moving piece.
