With My Nose Pressed Against the Glass
by Lyle Berry (Age: 61)
copyright 06-07-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

I long to worship at your feet
While I languish in those sighs
Inbibe your essence dusky sweet
With my face between your thighs

I crave to crush your heat to mine
With our tongues entwined like snakes
Imagine God has censored time
We have all the time love takes

But it’s all pretend - a dream that’s been
A whimsy that won’t last
I’m on the outside looking in
With my nose pressed ‘gainst the glass

I ache to play each night, each day
Did I make those vows for this?
To be a million miles away
With illusions of your kiss?

Each year goes by, each tear I cry
I am giving up on life
If this is living - let me die
I’m dead anyway, dear wife

Yes, it’s all pretend - a dream that’s been
A whimsy that won’t last
I’m on the outside looking in
With my nose pressed ‘gainst the glass

Again, another nice poem, smooth flow and rythm, like a lulliby. Repeating the last line at the end really drives the point home...on the outside looking in...love is but an illusion, a dream, but most often than not, a really good one...

As with so much of life, we all seem to be on the outside looking into what we wished we had. Fantastic write, Lyle.

A sensitive and touching verse about relationships. Great read. Thanks for sharing. I think we all have our nose against that glass at sometime.
